About TriState Credit Union
Built on Legacy.

Our Story
Built on Decades of Experience.
Opened for a New Era.
TriState Credit Union was chartered in 2018 — but the experience powering it stretches back more than half a century. Our founding team had spent their careers inside the largest banking institutions in America: leading credit divisions at Citibank, managing digital transformation at JPMorgan Chase, building payment infrastructure at Wells Fargo.
What they all had in common was a conviction: America's credit union model — member-owned, community-focused, profit-for-members — was the most equitable structure in banking. And it deserved to be paired with world-class technology, transparent pricing, and service that meets people where they live and work.
That conviction became TriState. Seven years later, with 92,000 members, $2.8 billion in assets, and 14 branches across New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, we remain exactly what we set out to be: a credit union with the backbone of a major bank and the soul of a neighbor.
"We didn't build TriState to be the biggest bank in the room. We built it to be the most trusted name in the room — and then grow from there."

What We Stand For
Mission & Core Values
Our mission is simple: to be the financial institution we would want for our own families. That shapes every product, interaction, and policy we create.
Member-First Always
Every product, policy, and pricing decision begins with one question: does this genuinely serve our members? We are owned by the people we serve — full stop.
Uncompromising Security
Bank-grade 256-bit encryption, real-time fraud monitoring, and NCUA-backed deposit protection up to $250,000 safeguard every dollar in your account.
Purposeful Innovation
We invest in technology because it serves people — not the other way around. Every feature we ship simplifies your financial life.
Radical Transparency
No hidden fees. No buried rate clauses. No fine print surprises. Our product disclosures are written in plain English.
Community Stewardship
We reinvest surplus earnings into member dividends, local grants, and small-business loans — keeping capital inside the communities we call home.
Inclusive Access
Accessible banking isn't a checkbox for us. Every channel — branch, mobile, phone, and web — is fully accessible and available in six languages.
Our Journey
From Charter to $2.8 Billion
Seven years of focused growth, milestone achievements, and an unwavering commitment to the tri-state region.
The Idea Takes Shape
A group of veteran bankers — frustrated by fee-heavy, impersonal banking — begin drafting a new kind of credit union charter, drawing on over 50 combined years at Citibank, JPMorgan Chase, and Wells Fargo.
TriState Credit Union Opens
NCUA charter approved. Doors open at our flagship Midtown Manhattan branch on March 4, 2018. We close our first day with 340 founding members and $12M in deposits.
10,000 Members & Counting
Within 14 months, membership surpasses 10,000. TriState Online launches — our first digital portal — and our second branch opens in Jersey City, NJ.
Going Fully Digital
We accelerate our digital roadmap by 18 months. TriState Mobile launches with remote deposit, contactless payments, and 24/7 virtual teller support.
Commercial Banking Division
TriState Commercial opens, offering treasury management, lines of credit, and SBA-backed loans to small and mid-size businesses across the tri-state area.
$1 Billion in Assets
A landmark milestone. We announce partnerships with Wells Fargo and Bank of America clearing rails for enhanced ACH and wire transfer capabilities.
Award-Winning Service
Named Best Credit Union in the Northeast by Bankrate, Forbes, and the American Banker Association. Member satisfaction reaches an all-time high of 96%.
Tri-State Expansion Complete
Our 14th branch opens in Hartford, CT, completing our footprint across New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Membership surpasses 80,000.
